Wu Jiangbin

Ph.D., Professor-level Senior Engineer, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Underground Space and Engineering Design Research Institute of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., Adjunct Professor of Hohai University, and Shanghai Outstanding Technical Leader. He is mainly engaged in the design and research of high-rise building foundation engineering, ground treatment engineering, and deep excavation and underground space engineering. He has participated in the formulation of more than 20 technical standards, co-authored 7 books, and published more than 80 academic papers. He has received honors such as the National Mao Yisheng Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Youth Award and Shanghai Craftsman. He also serves as a council member of the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society and an executive council member of the Shanghai Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.‍

Based on the demand for underground space renovation and expansion of historic buildings and their surroundings in urban renewal, this report takes an outstanding historic building in Shanghai as an example and introduces active underpinning and reinforcement protection technologies for historic buildings, including the active underpinning technology using anchor static pressure piles for historic buildings, building lifting and active leveling technology, ultra-high jacking and high-position inclination correction technology, and temporary reinforcement technology for superstructures, thereby achieving the protection of historic buildings and the development of underground space and effectively improving the functionality and safety performance of historic buildings.
