Report Title

The "Love and Resentment" Between Patents and Standards

Report Content

With the continuous development of high and new technologies, the relationship between standards and patents has shifted from "opposition" to "integration" or "combination". New technology standards enable patented technologies to exist in the form of standards, while standards effectively supported by patented technologies can bring enormous economic benefits to standard setters. Standards and patents are showing an increasingly integrated new trend: innovation drives development, and development promotes innovation. The patent system is the most effective mechanism for incentivizing innovative development. The report summarizes the evolution of the relationship between technological standardization and patents, and explores the dialectical relationship of unity of opposites between technological standardization and patents, in which technological standardization activities stimulate the research and development of patented technologies, thereby forming the fundamental driving force for innovative development.
