Valuing Skilled Talent, Incubating Great Craftsmen

Skilled talent is crucial to the development of a country, a nation, and even an enterprise. XCMG has always attached great importance to work related to skilled talent. Starting in 2003, XCMG established a management system for highly skilled talent, and in 2012 launched the "Golden Blue-Collar 211" project. Since then, batches of master craftsmen and outstanding teams have continued to emerge.

In recent years, XCMG has cultivated 1 winner of the China Skills Award, 11 person-times of recipients of the National Model Worker honor and the May 1 Labor Medal, 4 people enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 2 national master craftsman studios, 20 national technical experts, 1 Jiangsu Great Craftsman, and 10 Jiangsu Craftsmen. The proportion of highly skilled talent in the enterprise rose from 23.85% in 2012 to 57.4% in 2021, and the proportion of skilled personnel on the production front line rose to 65.7%, further unleashing the vitality of talent innovation and creativity.

At the promotion conference, Jiang Lei, Chairman of the Trade Union of XCMG Machinery, read out the "Decision on Commending Personnel Who Won Awards in Skill Competitions at National, Provincial, Municipal and Other Levels in 2021." The conference also held a plaque-awarding ceremony for 6 XCMG studios named at the provincial and municipal levels in 2020-2021.

Zhang Huaihong of XCMG Heavy Machinery, Chen Gang of XCMG Loaders, Yang Changjian of XCMG Foundation, and Xu Hualong and Shen Ziyu of XCMG Excavators showcased the demeanor of great craftsmen of the new era in the "Craftsman Says - Stories of Masters" segment.

Improving Skills and Quality, Building a New Highland for Talent

At present, China has entered a new stage of development, and the factors supporting enterprise competition and development have undergone profound changes. At the meeting, Jiang Lei released XCMG's "Action Plan for Deepening the Project to Improve the Quality of Skilled Talent." This is another plan for upgrading highly skilled talent following the "Golden Blue-Collar 211" project.

Guided by the spirit of reaching the summit, the action plan pays close attention to the new demands placed on skilled talent by enterprise transformation and upgrading as well as new technologies and new industries. By giving play to the leading role of highly skilled talent, it continuously cultivates a knowledge-based, skill-based, and innovation-oriented team of highly skilled talent, gathers the synergy of striving, and builds a world-class enterprise that is "digital, green, and international."

In his speech at the promotion conference, Shu Zhiming affirmed XCMG's efforts in skilled talent work over the years. He expressed the hope that in the future XCMG will create a unique "XCMG scenery" on the road of advancing craftsmanship-based intelligent manufacturing and serving the country through skills, provide valuable "XCMG samples" in the tide of reforming the construction of the industrial worker workforce, and demonstrate vigorous "XCMG strength" on the journey of "building a strong industrial city and creating a regional center."

"We are XCMG industrial workers. We pledge to be loyal to our posts and to craft with ingenuity. Reaching the summit of Mount Everest, serving the country through skills..." Outstanding representatives from various trades made solemn pledges on stage. The raised right hands and resolute oaths, like the bugle call of battle, inspired and spurred people on, bringing the conference to a climax.

"Digital, intelligent, and unmanned manufacturing technologies are rapidly iterating and developing. Replacing manual operations with intelligent equipment has become a new trend in manufacturing development, placing higher demands on the quality and capabilities of front-line skilled talent. XCMG must plan and lay out from a high starting point in accordance with the state's requirements for cultivating the industrial worker workforce and the demand for highly skilled talent under industry competition, and solidly implement various talent cultivation measures."
