On February 12, the first day of the Chinese New Year, the double-T girder erection of the Wentangjing Bridge on the Chengkou-Kaizhou Expressway was successfully completed on the first day of the Year of the Ox, delivering the first good news of the new year for the expressway project.

The Wentangjing Bridge has a total length of 166 meters. It is a separated bridge crossing the Donghe River in steep and rugged terrain, with 3 spans on the left carriageway and 4 spans on the right, and a total of 35 T-girders. The bridge head connects to the subgrade, and the bridge tail connects directly to the Huangjialiang Tunnel. Due to the clearance height and horizontal width restrictions at the tunnel portal, the T-girder erection was highly difficult and carried high safety risks. The project team conducted multiple on-site surveys, performed data-based calculations for the bridge erection machine, and continuously optimized the construction plan to ensure successful girder erection.

The Wentangjing Bridge is a controlling project of the entire line. The completion of its T-girder erection has opened up the transport corridor and greatly facilitated the subsequent transport of materials for pavement construction.

During this year's Spring Festival, the Chengkou-Kaizhou C1 project department issued an initiative for employees to "celebrate the New Year in place" and adopted various considerate measures such as "stay-on-post bonuses" and "New Year gift packages" to ensure that employees staying on post could enjoy a secure and warm Spring Festival.

The Chengkou-Kaizhou Expressway is about 128 kilometers long in total, with about 56 kilometers in Chengkou County and about 72 kilometers in Kaizhou District. Among them, about 110.4 kilometers from Chengkou county seat to Kaizhou has fully started construction, and the final 18 kilometers connecting to Shaanxi are being accelerated. In 2021, the 50-kilometer section from Tanjia to Zhaojia within Kaizhou of the Chengkou-Kaizhou Expressway will open to traffic, and in 2022 it is expected to achieve connectivity from Chengkou to Kaizhou.

After the entire line is completed, it will form a provincial channel from Chongqing northward to Shaanxi. By then, the travel time between Chengkou, Kaizhou and Wanzhou will be shortened from the current 3-4 hours to 1.5-2.5 hours.
