On January 10, Kunming Metro Construction Management Co., Ltd. issued the announcement "Supervision Project for Civil Construction of Vocational Education Station in the Test Section of Anning Line of Kunming Rail Transit" to publicly tender the supervision of the project. The project is located in the middle of Anba Avenue on the Anning Line of Kunming Rail Transit, with the station named Vocational Education Station. The project implementation period is from March 1, 2018, to June 30, 2020. This means that the test section of the Anning section of the Kunming Metro East-West Express Line is about to start construction, and travel from Anning to Kunming will be even faster than east-west and north-south connections within the main urban area, taking only 25 minutes.
The Anning Line is 23.6 kilometers long with 7 stations in total
According to the announcement, the Anning Line of Kunming Rail Transit has a total length of 23.6 kilometers and 7 stations (Vocational Education Station, Anning Station, Donghu Station, Yuanshan Station, Dushupu Station, Changpo Station, and Chejiabi Station).
At present, the test section of the Anning Line announced by Kunming Metro Construction Management Company is the civil engineering works of Vocational Education Station. The station is located in the middle of Anba Avenue and is arranged along Anba Avenue in a southeast-northwest direction. It is designed as an underground two-story side-platform station with a platform width of 6.6m; the total length of the station is 450m, and the standard section width is 23.8m; the station has 4 passage entrances/exits and 2 groups of 8 ventilation pavilions in total, which are respectively set outside the red lines on both sides of Anba Avenue. The total construction area is 24,210 square meters, including 19,900 square meters of main structure and 4,310 square meters of auxiliary structures. The Vocational Education Station is planned to be constructed using the open-cut sequential method, and the main retaining structure is recommended to adopt underground diaphragm walls plus internal bracing. The cover thickness at the effective platform center mileage of the station main body is about 6.0m, and the bottom slab depth is about 17.5–20.0m.
At present, the Anning Vocational Education Park has introduced 10-12 secondary specialized schools and colleges, with about 100,000 students. The construction of this station will play the same role for students' travel as Metro Line 1 does for the Chenggong University Town, becoming the main means of transportation for students on weekends.
Travel between Kunming and Anning can save 40 minutes to 1 hour
The Anning Line will connect the Vocational Education Park, Anning main urban area, various industrial parks in Dushupu, various residential communities in Taiping Town, and Chejiabi Station on Metro Line 3. Starting from Vocational Education Station, it takes about 25 minutes to reach Chejiabi Station, and after transferring to Metro Line 3, it takes about 15 minutes to reach Dongfeng Square in downtown Kunming.
Anning is the industrial zone closest to Kunming, and its residential population and industrial output value rank among the top in all counties and districts. Previously, driving from Kunming to the Vocational Education Park took about 1 hour and 20 minutes by private car, plus fuel and toll costs. Taking a scheduled bus to the Vocational Education Park took about 2 hours. After the Anning Line of rail transit is completed in 3-5 years, travel time can be saved by 40 minutes to 1 hour, making it possible to live and work between the two places every day.
The completion of the Anning Line of rail transit will promote the outward relocation of some industrial parks, help Anning City achieve leapfrog development, accelerate the construction of the urban framework of "one main center, four areas, and one town", further optimize the urban spatial structure and industrial layout, and promote coordinated regional economic development; it will help enhance Kunming's transportation capacity, change residents' travel modes and lifestyles, reduce environmental pollution, and promote ecological civilization construction; it will help improve the city's modern transportation network, build a multi-mode, multi-directional, and multi-path connection pattern between Anning and Kunming's main urban area, and truly achieve "external connectivity and internal accessibility".
The Anning section is one section of the East-West Express Line of rail transit
The "Kunming City Near-Term Construction Plan (2016-2020) Results" released by the Kunming Municipal Planning Bureau in 2017 proposed: vigorously promote the construction of rapid rail transit lines and urban express lines. The construction of the Anning–Songming Line, the North-South Express Line, the Yiliang Line, the Fumin Line, and the Haikou Branch Line will be launched.
According to reports, the East-West Express Line of Kunming Rail Transit (Anning–Songming), also known as "Kunming Regional Railway Anning–Songming", is a line connecting Anning–Taiping–Main City–Airport Economic Zone–Songming. The total project investment is about 30 billion yuan, and the line length is 87.46 kilometers, including 39.9 kilometers underground, 9.66 kilometers at grade, and 33.5 kilometers elevated. There are 17 stations in total, including 9 elevated stations, 8 underground stations, and 7 transfer stations, with an average station spacing of 6.2 kilometers. The designed maximum speed is 160 kilometers per hour.
The starting point of the Songming Line is Wujiaba Central Station, routing toward the Eastern Bus Station, basically parallel to the existing Phase I project of Metro Line 6, passing through Dabanqiao, Xiaoshao High-Speed Railway Station, Yanglin Industrial Park, Yangqiao, and reaching the seat of Songming County.
After the Anning–Songming Line is completed and opened to traffic, it will take 25 minutes from Anning city center to Kunming main city and 35 minutes from Kunming main city to Songming county center. Anning is Kunming's industrial base, and Songming is an important outward channel for Kunming. The completion of the East-West Express Line of the metro will bring great convenience to Kunming's industrial development and personnel flow.
