According to the Guangzhou Municipal Government Work Report, the new round of the transportation development strategy plan will advance 5 national railway projects, 6 intercity rail projects, 9 metro projects, 10 expressway and high-grade highway projects, and 100 municipal road projects. The report shows that by the end of the year, Guangzhou will open 4 more metro lines, namely Line 14, Line 21, the northern extension of Line 3 (Airport South - Airport North), and the Guangfo Line Phase I Yangang to Lijiao section.

　　Line 14 links Conghua and the Knowledge City

　　The four metro lines to be opened this year are of great significance for unlocking resource connectivity among Guangzhou's various functional zones.

　　As the first metro line in Guangzhou to connect Conghua District, Line 14 has drawn much attention from the people of Conghua. The line starts in the south at Jiahewanggang in Baiyun District and extends north to Jiekou Street in Conghua District, shouldering Guangzhou's "North Optimization" strategy. The opening of the main line of Line 14 will realize the metro dream of Conghua District, the last district in Guangzhou without a metro, and will also link up the Knowledge City branch of Line 14, officially connecting it to the main Guangzhou Metro network and strengthening the connection between Conghua and the Knowledge City.

　　Line 21 connects Guangzhou's central urban area with the eastern Zengcheng area, and upon opening will greatly shorten travel time from eastern Guangzhou to the city center. For the Guangfo Line, only the "Yangang-Lijiao section" remains unopened; once open, it will interchange with Line 3 at Lijiao, eliminating the need to detour via Line 8 for transfers and greatly shortening the distance from Line 3 to the Guangfo Line.

　　The implementation of these lines will meet the needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's planning and development, adapt to the layout of a clustered network city spatial structure, and achieve the transformation from a transit city to a rail city.
