On July 29, as the final layer of rock was successfully broken through, the Dangfengshan No. 1 Tunnel on the Wuping–Meizhou section (Fujian section) of the Longlong High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through. This marks another landmark achievement in the project's key and difficult works, laying a solid foundation for subsequent track-laying and girder-erection construction and for the opening of the entire line on schedule.
The Dangfengshan No. 1 Tunnel is located in Shangchi Village, Zhongchi Town, Wuping County. With a total length of 409 meters, an associated 8-meter open-cut section, and a maximum burial depth of about 45 meters, it is a typical shallow-buried unsymmetrical-loading tunnel. The rock mass is fractured and the surrounding rock has weak self-stabilizing capacity, making deformation and collapse hazards likely during construction; it is a key controlling works on this section of the line.

Facing complex geological conditions, and with the guidance and support of the on-site station group of the Fujian Railway Construction Command and the municipal and county Longlong High-Speed Railway Coordination Offices, the project department matched specialized construction techniques to the complex geology, implemented advanced geological forecasting and real-time monitoring of the surrounding rock, and dynamically adjusted the construction plan according to on-site conditions. Standardized techniques of layered excavation and immediate support were adopted on site, with slope reinforcement, portal drainage and other protective works carried out in parallel to build a solid barrier for safe construction. The project strictly enforced daily inspections, technical briefings, and closed-loop rectification of hidden hazards, regularly conducted safety education and training, coordinated the deployment of personnel and machinery, and relied on a standardized, intensive construction model to overcome geological construction challenges and ensure the safe holing-through of the tunnel.
"The successful holing-through of the tunnel marks a phased breakthrough in the key and difficult works of the Wumei Railway (Fujian section). Next, we will urge the construction unit to seize the golden construction period, press ahead toward the goal of opening to traffic, and ensure the project is completed on schedule with quality and quantity assured," said Chen Weimin, head of the construction group of the Municipal Longlong High-Speed Railway Coordination Office.
The Longlong High-Speed Railway (Wumei section) is a key project of Fujian Province and one of Longyan City's top ten "top-priority" projects. Its main line is 102.4 kilometers long, connecting Wuping with Jiaoling, Meizhou and other places in Guangdong. Once the entire line opens to traffic, it will open up an inland high-speed rail corridor between Fujian and Guangdong, shorten travel time between the two places, improve the regional railway network, strengthen economic and trade exchanges between Fujian and Guangdong, and is of great significance for promoting the coordinated high-quality development of the southeast coast with the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
