The Hebei section of the Chengde–Keshiketeng (Inner Mongolia) Expressway is the largest expressway project under construction in Hebei Province. Construction units are now seizing the favorable construction window to push ahead at full speed, and the project is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in September next year.

In the height of summer, construction on the Hebei section of the Chengke Expressway is in full swing, with thousands of builders working in an orderly manner to meet milestone targets. As the longest bridge and a controlling project on the entire route, the Shibakete Grand Bridge, 2,411 meters long, crosses the busy G111 National Highway, posing great challenges in construction organization and demanding high safety standards. The construction team optimized the process and adopted the wet bored-pile method using rotary drilling rigs, keeping pile verticality deviation within 0.3%.

Chen Yulong, Project Manager of the Chengke Expressway Construction Project Department of China Gezhouba Group Three Gorges Construction Engineering Co., Ltd.:We installed protective canopies over the G111 National Highway so that traffic was not interrupted. Above, we adopted cantilever cast-in-place construction, optimized the form traveler design, and used a bottom-sealing design scheme, which not only met the schedule target during construction but also better ensured the safety of traffic below.

The No. 1 smart precast beam yard of Section 5 of the Chengke Expressway has created an intensive precast production model, with two intelligent production lines operating in an orderly manner, achieving automated processes and real-time data collection.

Chen Yulong, Project Manager of the Chengke Expressway Construction Project Department of China Gezhouba Group Three Gorges Construction Engineering Co., Ltd.:Our production efficiency has effectively doubled, while labor has been reduced by a quarter.

The Hebei section of the Chengke Expressway is located within Weichang Manchu and Mongol Autonomous County, with a total length of 106 kilometers. It starts from the Hekou forest management area of the Hebei Saihanba Mechanical Forest Farm and ends north of Weichang Manchu and Mongol Autonomous County seat, connecting with the terminus of the Weichang branch of the Daqing–Guangzhou Expressway. The route passes through grasslands, forest land and hilly terrain, practicing green construction concepts throughout the entire process and striving to build an ecologically harmonious "most beautiful expressway" on the Bashang plateau.

Tang Tao, General Manager of Hebei Chengke Expressway Co., Ltd. under China Energy Engineering Gezhouba Transportation Investment Company:At present, construction is proceeding smoothly as planned. We have completed 60% of the total schedule and expect to complete and open to traffic in September 2027.

Li Haijun, Director of the Road Development Center of the Chengde Municipal Transport Bureau:It will effectively facilitate the cross-regional flow of regional energy and materials, connect and integrate the high-quality ecological and cultural tourism resources around Saihanba, effectively fill the gap in transport infrastructure construction in northern Chengde, and strongly drive economic quality and efficiency improvement in areas along the route and support rural revitalization.
