Recently, the first embedded rock-socketed steel pipe pile of the Letianxi Temporary Wharf project of the Three Gorges Water Transport New Channel Project was successfully poured, marking that the main wharf project supporting the Three Gorges Water Transport New Channel Project has entered the stage of full-scale construction.

The two temporary wharves at Letianxi and Xia'anxi are located on the left bank of the Three Gorges Dam area and are supporting projects of the Three Gorges Water Transport New Channel Project. Among them, the Letianxi Temporary Wharf is located 9 kilometers downstream of the Three Gorges Dam and is planned to include a 3,000-tonne ro-ro berth and a 5,000-tonne bulk cargo berth; the Xia'anxi Temporary Wharf is adjacent to the downstream side of the Letianxi estuary and is arranged with a 5,000-tonne bulk cargo berth. The two wharves mainly undertake the transfer of construction materials such as fill materials and coarse aggregates, with a monthly transport capacity of up to 1 million tonnes during peak periods, serving as the "lifeline" for material supply for the Three Gorges Water Transport New Channel Project.
The steel pipe pile constructed this time is the first pile foundation of the unloading platform at Berth No. 2 of Letianxi. The project construction team innovatively adopted a combined construction process using full-casing full-rotation drilling rigs and rotary drilling rigs, optimized the construction procedures, and fully allocated manpower and machinery resources, achieving "seamless connection between procedures" and greatly improving construction efficiency.
The ro-ro berth of the Letianxi Temporary Wharf is expected to be completed by the end of August this year, the unloading platform at Berth No. 2 is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of September, and the Xia'anxi Temporary Wharf is planned to be completed by the end of December.
