On July 1, the Dongpo Road North Extension, a core supporting road of the Foshan Station of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, was officially opened to traffic. This key corridor, which clears the "last mile" of bringing the high-speed railway into the city, was completed in just 14 months. Behind the efficient completion is the meticulous and stringent control of pile foundation hole-forming quality by the contractor, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, which secured the project's foundation with millimeter-level construction precision and built a premium regional municipal road project.

It is reported that the Dongpo Road North Extension has a total length of 1.832 kilometers, adopts a high-standard layout of eight lanes in both directions on the main line, and is designed for a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It is a core component of the Foshan Station collection and distribution road network. The project is located in the core urban area of Chancheng, surrounded by dense residential communities and factory buildings, with complicated underground pipelines. The stratum structure is complex, and the project faces the challenge of underwater construction during the flood season. As the foundational process of the road project, pile foundation hole-forming poses enormous construction difficulties and quality control pressure.

To overcome the construction difficulties, the project established a technical task force, customized a special construction plan based on field survey data, and implemented standardized control over the entire pile foundation hole-forming process. The construction team dynamically monitored drilling parameters, precisely regulated drilling speed and mud proportioning, and strictly controlled core indicators such as hole diameter, verticality, and sediment at the hole bottom, effectively avoiding quality hazards such as hole collapse and diameter shrinkage. At the same time, the construction sequence was optimized to avoid periods of heavy rain during the flood season, strictly controlling underwater construction risks and comprehensively ensuring the precision of pile foundation construction.

The refined quality control produced remarkable results. The project completed the main pier substructure and the No. 0 block in only four months, and the elevation error of the full-line closure section was far below the national specification limit of 20 millimeters, achieving millimeter-level precision closure. During construction, the project simultaneously implemented measures such as soundproof enclosures, spray dust suppression, and staggered working hours to minimize the impact on the lives of nearby residents and the ecological environment.

The opening to traffic marks the further improvement of the collection and distribution system of the Foshan Station of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway. The precise and stringent quality control of pile foundation construction has laid a solid foundation for the safe and stable operation of the road. The commissioning of this road section effectively unblocks the passenger and freight collection and distribution bottleneck of the high-speed railway hub and will inject new momentum into the development of high-end manufacturing, modern logistics, commercial services, and other industries in the Chancheng area, supporting the coordinated high-quality development of regional transportation and industry.
