On June 14, key engineering milestones of the Chating Interchange of the Xuchang-Guangzhou Expressway to the Changsha Ring Expressway (abbreviated as the Cha-Rao Expressway) progressed smoothly, and the project as a whole is advancing in an orderly manner.

As of now, 45% of the subgrade earthwork and rockwork of the Cha-Rao Expressway has been completed, and 55% of the slab culverts and passages have been completed; 58% of the bridge pile foundations and 32% of the columns have been completed. Key engineering milestones are progressing smoothly. For the Zhongqing Road reconstruction, 3,000 meters of municipal road diversion has been completed; for Zhongqing Road No. 2 Bridge, 193 pile foundations have been completed, accounting for 42%, and 11 columns have been completed, accounting for 7%. For the mainline bridge crossing the railway, the construction platform for the swivel operation has been opened up and the main pier pile foundation construction has been completed, and the first concrete pour for the lower pile cap has been completed; for the connecting line railway-crossing bridge, 6 pile foundations for the main pier have been completed. The Baishi Tunnel and Shenxianling Tunnel have already begun excavation.

The Cha-Rao Expressway starts at the Chating Interchange of the Xuchang-Guangzhou Expressway and ends at the Laodaohe Hub Interchange, where it connects with the Changsha Ring Expressway. It passes through Kaifu District, Wangcheng District and other areas along the route. It is the first expressway in the province to be superimposed with urban municipal roads. The mainline is about 23.163 kilometers long and is built to a two-way, six-lane expressway standard, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a subgrade width of 34 meters. Once completed, the project will become a rapid corridor between Changsha and Yueyang and is of great significance for optimizing the regional road network structure and promoting economic development along the route.
