Recently, a key semiconductor industry project undertaken by China Railway Wuhan Electrification Bureau—the Jiufengshan Semiconductor Manufacturing Base—has officially entered the substantive construction phase, pressing the "accelerator" for the capacity expansion and quality upgrading of the compound semiconductor industry in Wuhan Optics Valley.

As the rotary drilling rig started smoothly and operated with precision, the first pile of the Jiufengshan Semiconductor Manufacturing Base Project (Section I) was successfully drilled. The project is located in the core science and innovation area of the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, south of Keji 1st Road, east of Suhu Road, and west of Wufeng Road. It is a key layout for Optics Valley to improve its semiconductor industry ecosystem and address the shortage of mass-production carriers. The Section I works implemented this time cover two R&D office buildings of 12 and 15 stories and one 15-story shift dormitory building, with a total construction area of approximately 120,000 square meters. The project focuses on upgrading industrial supporting facilities and building science and innovation carriers. Once completed, it will effectively fill the gap in specialized semiconductor mass-production carriers in the region, improve the full-chain industrial layout of compound semiconductors, and comprehensively empower Optics Valley's industrial iterative upgrading and the improvement of its overall science and innovation capacity and efficiency.

To ensure the project starts with high standards and high quality, the project department planned ahead and made meticulous arrangements, gathering core technical backbones to deepen the optimization of construction plans and repeatedly discussing the pile foundation construction process, technical standards, and key and difficult control points. At the same time, it strictly implemented safety production control requirements and comprehensively carried out pre-job safety education and technical briefings for construction personnel. It made all-round preparations in every link, including construction plan approval, technical parameter calibration, personnel allocation, and equipment commissioning, compacting responsibilities at every level and refining control measures to ensure that the entire pile foundation construction process is safe, standardized, scientific, orderly, and efficiently advanced.

It is understood that the Jiufengshan Semiconductor Manufacturing Base Project is based on the development layout of the semiconductor industry in Optics Valley, relies on the strong scientific research achievement transformation advantages of the Jiufengshan Laboratory, and precisely aligns with the upgrading and development trend of the domestic compound semiconductor industry. The project is positioned as the core mass-production carrier block of the compound semiconductor industry innovation block and will build high-standard, high-cleanliness, and specialized modern semiconductor production plants and improve the industrial production, R&D, and living supporting systems.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will successfully connect the entire industrial closed loop of "R&D—pilot testing—mass production," completely address the shortcomings in the region's large-scale mass-production capacity for compound semiconductors, accelerate the commercialization of scientific research achievements, promote the clustered development and leapfrogging of upstream and downstream industries, help Wuhan Optics Valley build a domestically leading compound semiconductor industry highland, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the region's high-end intelligent manufacturing industry.
