It is a key component of the lateral corridor of Qinghai Province's "3410" expressway network. The route has a total length of 32.726 km and is built to Class I highway standards with a design speed of 80 km/h. The entire line features 18 bridges and 6 tunnels, with a total tunnel length of 20,050 meters and a bridge-tunnel ratio as high as 73.6%. The approved project budget is 5.653 billion yuan. A 1.16-km Guigala road connecting line is built in parallel, adopting Class I highway standards with a design speed of 60 km/h, including 2 major bridges and 3 medium bridges.

During construction, the project focused on refined tunnel control and intelligent construction, promoting smooth blasting and the five-line wall-mounted waterproofing and drainage process, and equipping complete sets of intelligent machinery such as three-boom rock drilling jumbos and intelligent secondary lining trolleys; it built an information-based safety control platform and, relying on facilities such as solar-powered voice assistants and personnel positioning monitoring, achieved full-process intelligent supervision; it adopted permanent-temporary combined power supply and intensive comprehensive stations, with equipment automation processing rate exceeding 95% and processing efficiency increased by 160%, achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement. After completion, the project will further improve the transportation network along the Yellow River, boost tourism resource development, and smooth the east-west lateral corridor within the province. The project's sub-projects are advancing steadily. As of now, subgrade work is 78.8% complete, bridges 82.3% complete, and pavement 35.2% complete. The tunnel group section passed completion acceptance in December 2024, and the remaining sections are scheduled to meet completion acceptance conditions in September 2026.
