On May 25 local time, the first pile foundation pouring ceremony was held for the 300 MW solar-storage project in Turkestan Region, Kazakhstan, marking the project's full entry into the main construction implementation phase. Nuralkan Kusherov, Governor of Turkestan Region, and He Xiongfei, Deputy General Manager of Overseas Investment Company, attended the event and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Nuralkan said that the smooth implementation of the project is an important milestone in the development of green energy in Turkestan Region. The regional government will continue to provide policy support and service guarantees, and make every effort to ensure the high-quality advancement of this landmark project.
In his speech, He Xiongfei said that the successful pouring of the first batch of pile foundations marks the official entry of this China-Kazakhstan new energy cooperation project into the substantive construction phase, with the project gradually turning from a blueprint into reality. In the future, the company will join hands with partners such as Samruk Energy to advance the project construction with high standards and high quality, and strive to build it into a benchmark project for China-Kazakhstan green energy cooperation.
With a total investment of approximately USD 307 million, the 300 MW solar-storage project in Turkestan Region is the first project to start construction under the China-Kazakhstan intergovernmental framework agreement following the 2025 SCO Summit. It is the first investment project implemented by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) in Kazakhstan and currently the largest single-unit installed capacity solar-storage investment project in the country. During construction, the project can create about 500 direct local jobs, effectively driving the local economy and industrial development. Once completed, the project is expected to provide about 674 million kWh of clean electricity annually, effectively improving the local energy mix and empowering Kazakhstan's green energy transition.
Next, China Energy Engineering Overseas Investment Company will continue to leverage CEEC's full-industry-chain advantage of "integrated investment, construction and operation," strictly control safety, quality and schedule, and make every effort to build the 300 MW solar-storage project in Turkestan Region into a China-Kazakhstan cooperation benchmark featuring advanced technology, reliable quality and stable operation, contributing to deepening traditional China-Kazakhstan friendship and promoting the high-quality development of Belt and Road cooperation.
Representatives from relevant departments of the Turkestan Regional Government, the project company, the EPC general contractor China Energy Engineering Construction Group and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute, as well as various participating units, attended the above event.
