On April 22, the first pile foundation of the Xijuntun Bridge in Section JPZQ-10 of the Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan Railway was successfully drilled. The project is being built by Henan Railway Construction Investment Group's Henan Intercity Railway Co., Ltd., with China Railway Design Corporation as general contractor and China Railway Seventh Group as the construction contractor. This marks the section's formal entry into the main works construction phase, laying a solid foundation for the project's completion and opening to traffic on schedule.

The Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan Railway is an important component of the Hohhot-Nanning Corridor, one of the main high-speed rail corridors in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" network. It is also a key project for building Henan Province's "rice-shaped" high-speed rail network and improving the railway network in western Henan. The JPZQ-10 section now being drilled has a main line length of 7.56 kilometers and a connecting line length of 15.1 kilometers. The works cover subgrade and bridges on the main and connecting lines, as well as the demolition of three existing road-over-rail bridges. As the core section of the Luoyang hub, more than 85% of its construction involves operating railway lines, entailing high safety risk and difficult construction organization; it is one of the controlling projects of the entire line.

The core works of the section include the reconstruction of Luoyang Longmen Station and the demolition of road-over-rail bridges. As the interchange hub between the Xuzhou-Lanzhou High-Speed Railway and the Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan Railway, Luoyang Longmen Station is laid out as "one station, two yards," with a total scale of 6 platforms and 15 tracks. Of these, the Zhengzhou-Xi'an yard has 4 platforms and 8 tracks, while the newly built Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan high-speed rail yard is designed with 3 platforms and 7 tracks (sharing one platform with the Zhengzhou-Xi'an line), achieving interconnection between the two major high-speed rail trunk lines.

The Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan Railway connects to the Zhengzhou-Taiyuan High-Speed Railway in the north and the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway in the south. The newly built line is 230.485 kilometers long with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Once completed, together with the Zhengzhou hub, it will form a double-ring road network on the west side, effectively diverting transit traffic and relieving pressure on the hub. It will greatly enhance the transport flexibility and risk resistance of the national high-speed rail network and achieve one-hour direct connections among Jiaozuo, Luoyang and Pingdingshan. At the same time, it is of far-reaching significance for consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation, supporting rural revitalization, driving cultural tourism and industrial development along the route, and promoting the high-quality rise of the central region. It will provide travelers along the line with more efficient, green and environmentally friendly travel options.
