The commencement of construction on the Taishan Road Yangtze River Bridge is an important strategic choice for Wuhu to optimize the layout of river-crossing corridors and enhance its hub capacity.

The project is approximately 31 kilometers long in total. The main navigation channel bridge adopts a suspension bridge design with a main span of 1,410 meters, the longest among bridges in the Anhui section of the Yangtze River. Some sections of the main line adopt a dual-direction, eight-lane standard, while the approach links at both ends are dual-direction, six-lane. The entire line features six interchanges, with a planned construction period of 48 months. Once completed, the project will directly connect Jiujiang District, Jiangbei New Area, and the Zhengpugang area of Ma'anshan, linking up with regional expressway trunk lines such as the Nanjing-Jiujiang and Nanjing-Wuhu routes.

At present, pile foundation construction for the south and north main piers of the main navigation channel bridge has been successfully completed. Pile cap construction is underway on the south bank, while anchorage construction is advancing simultaneously on the north bank, with all construction work proceeding in an orderly manner.

"The construction of the Taishan Road Yangtze River Bridge is by no means simply adding another bridge, but a strategic completion and systematic strengthening of the entire river-crossing corridor system," said the project manager. The planning and construction of the bridge not only focus on improving traffic capacity, but also fully take into account efficient connections with regional trunk road networks such as Changjiang North Road, JiuHua North Road, and Zhongjiang Avenue, as well as deep integration with the urban development pattern, aiming to ensure that it can maximize the benefits of a comprehensive transportation hub once completed.

"Existing river-crossing corridors are mostly concentrated in the core urban sections, whereas the Taishan Road Bridge is located farther downstream, which can effectively divert long-distance through traffic, ease the pressure of river crossings within the city, significantly improve congestion during peak hours, and make the cross-river road network layout more balanced, with clearer functions and more efficient operation," the manager further explained.

At the same time, the bridge will create a golden expressway corridor between Anhui and Zhejiang, becoming another "fast lane" for Wuhu's deep integration into the Yangtze River Delta integration. It will significantly strengthen rapid connections with the Hefei metropolitan area, Nanjing metropolitan area, and Hangzhou metropolitan area, further enhancing Wuhu's transportation radiation and influence within the Wanjiang urban belt.
