On March 31, all main pier pile caps of the Hangbu River Grand Bridge, part of the 4th bid section of the Tongshang Expressway constructed by Anhui Construction Engineering Road & Bridge, were fully poured, marking the complete transition of the Hangbu River Grand Bridge's main bridge from underground concealed construction to above-ground pier column construction, and pressing the "fast-forward button" on the Tongshang Expressway project.

As a controlling project of the entire line, the Hangbu River Grand Bridge spans the main navigation channel of the Hangbu River and the embankments on both banks. The bridge deck has a total width of 37.5 meters, and the pile caps of main bridge piers 103# and 104# are 4 meters thick. Notably, the construction area for the pile cap of main pier 104# is located in the main navigation channel of the Hangbu River, where the riverbed overburden is complex, facing the "triple challenge" of deep water, navigation, and complex geology, which places extremely high demands on construction organization and technical processes.

To ensure the safety and quality of main pier construction, the project team planned ahead and deployed scientifically, organized expert demonstrations, continuously optimized the construction plan, and innovatively adopted steel sheet pile cofferdam and underwater concrete bottom-sealing process technology, effectively solving key problems such as foundation pit protection and bottom-sealing compactness in deep-water operations. During construction, the project team strictly implemented the quality control system, striving for excellence and strict control at every stage. Addressing the pain point that mass concrete pouring is prone to cracking, four layers of cooling water pipes were laid inside the pile caps in advance to effectively dissipate the heat of hydration inside the concrete through circulating cold water. At the same time, high-precision sensors were embedded to monitor and regulate the internal temperature of the concrete 24 hours a day, precisely controlling the temperature drop rate, ensuring the physical quality and appearance quality of the pile caps, and efficiently completing all main pier pile cap pouring tasks.

As a new travel corridor in the direction of Henan–Hefei–Zhejiang, the construction of the Chaohu (Muji) to Feixi (Sanhe) section of the Tongshang Expressway plays an important role in alleviating traffic pressure on expressways such as the Wuhu–Hefei Expressway and the Hefei–Lu'an–Yeji Expressway, and is of great significance for improving Anhui Province's expressway network, enhancing the radiating and driving role of the Hefei metropolitan area, and promoting the implementation of the Yangtze River Delta integration and the Rise of Central China strategy.
