On March 12, as the long arm of the first excavator slowly reached downward, the deep foundation pit excavation for the Suzhou North High-Speed Railway Station project undertaken by CCCC Tunnel Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. officially began.

The foundation pit is located in the core area of Chengtong Road, with a depth of 38.65 m, a length of 28.2 m and a width of 21 m, making it the deepest foundation pit excavation project among Suzhou rail transit projects. To ensure safe and orderly excavation, the project team carried out technical research several months in advance and invited relevant experts to conduct multiple scheme demonstrations and site surveys. A dedicated construction organization design was formulated for the complex geological conditions, ultimately adopting a composite support system of "diaphragm wall + multiple concrete struts + 80-meter-deep TRD waterproof curtain." At the same time, a full-process intelligent monitoring system was established, with multiple smart monitoring points deployed around the foundation pit to carry out 24-hour dynamic monitoring of pit deformation, groundwater levels and settlement of surrounding buildings, enabling dynamic early warning with millimeter-level precision.

During excavation, members of the project team's leadership took the lead in staying on the front line and implemented a 24-hour shift supervision system to track construction progress and site conditions in real time, ensuring immediate response and handling of emergencies. Up to now, 520 m³ of soil has been excavated, accounting for 26% of the first-layer earthwork excavation, and monitoring data on retaining structure deformation and settlement of surrounding roads and pipelines are all normal.

The project team stated that in subsequent work it will continue to improve the risk control mechanism and optimize the sequencing of construction procedures, fully advancing the project schedule while ensuring quality and safety, so as to lay a solid foundation for the overall construction of Suzhou North High-Speed Railway Station.

Once completed, the project will achieve seamless three-dimensional interconnection among high-speed rail, intercity rail, regional rail and urban rail transit, laying the foundation for concentrated multi-line transfers on the Suzhou Metro. It will significantly enhance the national-level hub function of Suzhou North Station and inject "underground momentum" into the industrial agglomeration of the High-Speed Rail New Town.
