On March 23, the construction of the Taishan Road Yangtze River Bridge on the S24 Hangzhou-Hefei Expressway achieved a key milestone: pile foundation construction for both the south and north main piers of the main navigation channel bridge has been fully completed. The south bank has smoothly transitioned to the pile cap construction phase, while anchor block construction on the north bank is advancing in parallel, marking solid progress for this "First Span of the Wanjiang River."

　　The south main pier of the main navigation channel bridge is a controlling project of the bridge construction, consisting of 30 bored piles with a diameter of 2.8 meters and a pile length of 81 meters. Located in the complex waters of the Yangtze River, with harsh hydrogeological conditions and strong current scouring, underwater hole formation for the pile foundations is extremely difficult. Sun Lijun, head of Project Section 3, introduced: "The construction team seized the golden period of construction, scientifically allocated resources, improved construction techniques, and effectively ensured construction quality and efficiency, completing all bored pile construction tasks in just 39 days." Currently, construction personnel on the south bank are racing against the schedule to advance excavation for the south main pier pile cap, making every effort to ensure completion of the south main pier pile cap—a core milestone—before the flood season.

　　Echoing the south bank, construction of the north main pier of the main navigation channel bridge on the north bank of the Yangtze River has also been completed on schedule, achieving completion of pile foundation construction for both the south and north main piers. Hu Tao, head of Project Section 4, introduced that the construction team has continued to tackle difficulties and advance the work, and has now successfully completed all pile foundation construction tasks for the north main pier. "Foundation construction for the north anchor block is also proceeding in parallel, steel cage assembly has started as planned, and construction at all stages on the north bank is advancing in an orderly manner according to schedule milestones."

　　The full completion of pile foundations for the south and north main piers this time has overcome the core challenges of pile foundation construction in the complex waters of the Yangtze River, laying a solid foundation for subsequent superstructure construction of the bridge. Once the project is completed, it will further improve the Anhui-Zhejiang expressway network, enhance interprovincial highway accessibility, promote the integrated development of Wuhu and Ma'anshan, and provide solid transportation support for the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
