On March 17, the first engineering pile of the SDIC Yangpu Port 100,000-ton public grain and oil terminal project was successfully driven, marking that the construction of Hainan's only specialized grain and oil terminal has entered a critical stage.

At the construction site, pile-driving rigs tens of meters high stand over the sea, with equipment operating at full capacity. Amid repeated muffled hammer strikes, steel pipe piles were slowly driven into the seabed. These pile foundations will support the berthing and loading/unloading of future 10,000-ton-class grain and oil vessels, laying the foundation for Hainan's grain and oil supply security.

"At present, the trial pile work for the terminal project has been completed, and construction of the engineering piles for No. 1 approach bridge is underway. Next, we will organize the construction of the terminal structure piles and the main works in accordance with the overall schedule requirements, and ensure that the project is completed and delivered by the end of 2026 on the premise of safety and efficiency," said the person in charge of the construction unit.

As an important component of the Yangpu international hub seaport, the SDIC Yangpu Port 100,000-ton public grain and oil terminal project involves a total investment of 997 million yuan. It will build one 100,000-ton public grain and oil terminal berth with a shoreline length of 316 meters, along with two approach bridges. The project is designed with an annual throughput of 4.5 million tons, including 4 million tons of grain handling and 500,000 tons of vegetable oil, which can fully meet the berthing and efficient operation needs of large grain and oil vessels. Once completed, it will fill the gap in Yangpu Port's berthing capacity for large grain and oil vessels of over 50,000 tons.

In addition, the project includes supporting facilities such as an intelligent production scheduling center, shore power systems and grain and oil conveyor corridors, which will enable integrated operations of "front port -- middle warehouse -- rear factory." The project adopts advanced equipment and loading/unloading processes to achieve unmanned, efficient and information-based management. Integrating specialization, intelligence, energy conservation and environmental protection, it will directly serve grain and oil processing enterprises in the Yangpu Port area and meet the construction needs of the "International Health Food Port" in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone.
