On the 3rd, the Wuxi section of the Yancheng-Yixing High-Speed Railway construction project fully resumed work. Builders quickly returned to their posts and raced against time, advancing the construction of this major cross-river transportation artery with a down-to-earth approach to improve quality and speed, striving for a strong start in the first quarter of the new year and injecting transportation momentum into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

As an important north-south backbone corridor of Jiangsu Province's "six vertical and six horizontal" high-speed rail network, the Yancheng-Yixing High-Speed Railway starts from Yancheng in the north, connects Taizhou in the middle, passes through Wuxi and Changzhou, and ends at Yixing, with a main line length of about 311 kilometers. It is an important new cross-river corridor linking northern Jiangsu, central Jiangsu, and southern Jiangsu, and is of great significance for improving the Yangtze River Delta high-speed rail network and promoting regional integrated development. Among these, the Wuxi section has a main line length of 91.3 kilometers and four stations; all lines within its territory use elevated bridge structures, and all five pre-station civil works construction bid sections have now entered the substantive construction stage.

At the construction site near Wuxi Huishan Station, machinery roars and welding sparks fly, presenting a bustling scene of construction. Viewed from low altitude, bridge piers up to 30 meters high rise from the ground in neat rows, like steel backbones supporting the project framework and laying a solid foundation for subsequent bridge erection and track laying.

"Nearly 400 builders from the Yancheng-Yixing High-Speed Railway Bid Section 09 project department have returned to the construction frontline, going all out to accelerate the construction 'progress bar,'" said Zhang Kaijun, deputy manager of the Second Sub-division of Bid Section 09 of the Yancheng-Yixing Railway under China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group. He introduced that Bid Section 09 has a main line length of about 27 kilometers, with the construction scope covering the reconstruction of Huishan Station, the pre-station works of the comprehensive maintenance workshop and stabling yard, as well as four major bridges including the Xicheng Canal Grand Bridge, the Huishan Elevated Station Grand Bridge, and the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal Grand Bridge. Among them, the Xicheng Canal Grand Bridge, as a controlling project of the entire line, is 5,560 meters long, with 167 pier bodies and 5 continuous beam spans; during construction it must cross important roads and rivers multiple times, making construction relatively difficult.

Ding Lei, head of the materials and equipment department of the manager department of Bid Section 09 of the Yancheng-Yixing Railway under China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group, introduced that as of now, the main works of this bid section have completed a total of 2,766 bridge pile foundations, 153 pile caps, and 6 pier bodies, with various construction tasks progressing in an orderly manner. According to the design plan, the Yancheng-Yixing High-Speed Railway will cross the Yangtze River in the form of an underwater tunnel, entering Jiangyin Station from Jingjiang. The project will build one new station, Taihu West Station, in Yangshan, Wuxi, and renovate and upgrade the existing Huishan Station and Yixing Station.

It is reported that the entire Yancheng-Yixing High-Speed Railway has a construction period of five and a half years. After completion and opening to traffic, it will build a "2-hour rapid transportation circle" among the cities of northern Jiangsu, central Jiangsu, and southern Jiangsu, further breaking down regional transportation barriers, accelerating the cross-regional flow of people, materials, and capital, promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region to a deeper and higher level, and helping Jiangsu achieve new breakthroughs in north-south cross-river integrated development.
