On February 6, 2026, the right tube of the jacked passage beneath the Nanping Expressway, part of the Wuhe Avenue–Nanping Expressway Connector Project, was successfully holed through. The project is constructed by Shenzhen Municipal Group Co., Ltd. and the jacking works were undertaken by Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. This milestone marks the full-line breakthrough of the box culvert jacking works.

The Wuhe Avenue–Nanping Expressway Connector Project is located in the central part of Shenzhen, in the southern area of the Longhua district, adjacent to Meilin Pass. It starts at the existing Wuhe Avenue and ends at the existing Nanping Expressway, running generally north–south. The main line is about 1 km long, the reconstruction section at the Wuhe Avenue at-grade intersection is about 0.25 km long, and the interchange ramps total about 1.55 km. The main line is designed to urban arterial road standards with a design speed of 40 km/h, a road red line width of 39–51 m, and four to six motor vehicle lanes in each direction. There are two at-grade intersections along the route—the Wuhe Avenue intersection and the Xinghe Yabao land parcel intersection—while the remaining openings to adjacent land parcels are right-in/right-out only. The terminus intersects the Nanping Expressway in the form of a half-diamond interchange.

Among these, the box culvert jacking works beneath the Nanping Expressway are a key component of the project. The box culvert structure was jacked in two stages, first on the north side and then on the south side. The north-side passage (referred to as the "left tube") is 47.5 m long, and the south-side passage (referred to as the "right tube") is 51 m long. The cross-sectional dimensions of the box culvert are 10.6 × 7.8 m, the cover depth is approximately 2.0–2.5 m, the gradient is 0.738%, and the strata traversed consist mainly of plain fill and gravelly cohesive soil.
