As the year-end approaches, Section I of the Yatai Road East Extension Project (Shushan Road–Provincial Highway 03)As a key transportation project in Xiaoshan District, once completed, the project will strengthen the connection between the Shushan and Suoqian areas and the urban core. At present, it is focusing on two key links—pile foundation construction and utility relocation—to accelerate construction at full speed. The currently ongoing Section I of the Yatai Road East Extension Project (Shushan Road–Provincial Highway 03) starts from Shushan Road in the west and ends at Provincial Highway 03 (Hangjin Line) in the east, with a total length of about 1,060 meters. The main elevated section is an urban expressway with a design speed of 80 km/h and a road width of 26 meters.

Whether the elevated structure is stable depends on the pile foundations! As the "underground cornerstone" of the elevated bridge, the pile foundations bear the weight of the entire bridge and are directly related to the final quality of the project. At present, the project team is seizing the good weather before the Chinese New Year as the golden construction period and going all out to advance pile foundation construction for the main elevated section.
Up to now, Section I of the Yatai Road East Extension Project has completed 24 pile foundations, accounting for 10% of the total pile foundations in Section I. Each pile foundation extends 60–66 meters underground. From hole formation to final shaping, the construction participants strictly control quality throughout the entire process to ensure that every pile foundation is solid, reliable, and compliant. Next, as pile foundation construction continues, the project will gradually move into pile cap and pier shaft construction after the Spring Festival, and the "embryonic form" of the elevated structure will soon take shape.
The intricate underground utilities are a "hard nut to crack" on the project's path forward. As an important major traffic artery in southern Xiaoshan, Yatai Road has consistently high daily traffic volumes. To minimize the impact of construction on daytime traffic and residents' daily lives and to ease traffic congestion, the project team has proactively launched a "nighttime assault" mode, truly achieving "construction without adding congestion and convenience without compromise."
This nighttime utility relocation mainly covers various livelihood-related pipelines along Yatai Road, including water, gas, electricity, and communications. Construction hours are strictly limited to 22:00–06:00 the following day. During construction, the team strictly controls construction noise throughout, sets up conspicuous signs in a standardized manner, and assigns dedicated personnel for on-site duty, comprehensively ensuring construction safety and the safety of passing vehicles and pedestrians, and making every effort to clear utility obstacles and free up sufficient work space for accelerating the main works after the New Year.
