At a construction site in the Beijing Lize Financial Business District, a green pile driver started operation. As the towering pile hammer fell heavily, a powerful and resonant impact sound rang out, and a pile foundation was steadily driven in, marking the official start of construction of the Beijing Fengtai 500 kV power transmission and transformation project. It is reported that this project is also the first newly built 500 kV power grid project in Beijing during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. It will significantly enhance the resilience and power receiving capacity of the power grid in southern Beijing, provide reliable power support for Beijing to continuously optimize its investment structure and vigorously develop high-precision and advanced industries, and help the city strive for a strong start in the first quarter and activate new momentum for development.

"This project is currently the 500 kV power grid project closest to the capital's core area. After being put into operation, it will become an important power hub serving the capital's core area and key areas such as the Lize Financial Business District," said Zou Yu, Director of the Construction Division of the Construction Department of State Grid Beijing Electric Power. According to the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the Beijing power grid, the project will open a new channel for cross-provincial transmission and efficient consumption of green electricity. The external power source is drawn from the Beijing New Airport City 500 kV substation, which can receive clean electricity transmitted downward through the Zhangbei-Xiong'an 1,000 kV ultra-high-voltage transmission corridor, directly sending clean energy such as wind power and photovoltaics from the Zhangjiakou area to Beijing's load centers, thereby supporting the capital's green and low-carbon energy transition.

It is reported that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, State Grid Beijing Electric Power will take the start of construction of the Beijing Fengtai 500 kV power transmission and transformation project as an opportunity to simultaneously advance the planning and construction of 500 kV power transmission and transformation projects such as Huairou Science City, CBD, Fangshan (capacity expansion), Fenghuangling, and Yingcheng, build a three-dimensional intersecting double-ring 500 kV network, and further enhance the resilience and power receiving capacity of the Beijing power grid.
