To ensure the shield passes safely alongside the pile foundations, the construction team adopted a "real-time monitoring + dynamic adjustment" mechanism, conducting 24-hour uninterrupted monitoring of bridge settlement and tunnel convergence, while simultaneously optimizing the shield tunneling parameters. Through precise control of the advance speed, earth chamber pressure, and simultaneous grouting volume, micro-disturbance side passing was achieved. In addition, for the shield reception over a long-distance drive, the construction team intensified measurement and verification starting from 150 meters before the receiving shaft, completing multiple guidance system calibrations and manual attitude verifications, ultimately achieving a successful reception.

The Line 21 East Extension Project is about 14 kilometers long, starting from the Pudong Hub and ending at Chuansha Road Station of the Phase I Project of Line 21. The route mainly runs along Terminal 3 — the south side of the airport runway — Shanghai East Railway Station Hub — the north side of Panjiahong Port — Chuannanfeng Highway — Chuanliu Highway — Liuchen Road. Once the project is completed, it will break the deadlock of "no metro and difficult travel" in the area around Shiwan and accelerate the development of the Lingang area. At the same time, as an important part of the "Oriental Hub," Line 21 will further connect eastward to Shanghai East Railway Station and Pudong Airport, achieve interconnection with the Airport Link Line, and promote the integration of the Oriental Hub into the Yangtze River Delta rail transit network.
