As one of Donghai County's key livelihood projects for 2026, the repair and reinforcement project of Nanchen Bridge at K24+250 on County Road X252 Niuchen Line has been fully completed and will officially reopen to traffic on January 30. The width-restriction control facilities previously installed due to bridge safety hazards will be removed at the same time, effectively resolving travel difficulties for local residents and delivering a convenient "gift package" for Spring Festival travel.

Nanchen Bridge spans the Xinshu River and is an important transportation node connecting Shilianghe Town in Donghai County with surrounding areas and Shandong Province. It had previously been assessed as a Class IV dangerous bridge with safety hazards. The Donghai County transportation department, together with the public security traffic management department, installed width-restriction facilities to control traffic, affecting the passage of some vehicles. To eliminate safety hazards and improve the service capacity of transportation infrastructure, the bridge's repair and reinforcement was included in the county's 2026 transportation-related livelihood projects. The county transportation department, in conjunction with the public security traffic management department, made precise arrangements and launched the special upgrading work in August 2025.

In the early stage of the project, relevant departments organized a professional technical team to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the bridge. Based on the bridge's structural characteristics and traffic requirements, they scientifically designed the repair plan and defined core tasks such as pile foundation reinforcement, replacement of bearings and expansion joints, and structural repair, ensuring the pertinence and effectiveness of the maintenance work. In November 2025, construction officially began. The construction unit strictly followed design specifications and safety standards, focused on key links to compress the schedule, ensure quality, and safeguard safety, and advanced various construction tasks in an orderly manner, minimizing the impact of construction on public travel.

At present, following a comprehensive inspection by a professional testing agency, all technical indicators of the bridge have met safe traffic standards and it fully meets normal traffic conditions. The successful completion of this repair and reinforcement project not only addressed shortcomings in regional transportation facilities and eliminated long-standing traffic safety hazards, but also demonstrated, through the practical results of a strong start on livelihood projects, the local government's sense of responsibility in safeguarding public travel needs.

After Nanchen Bridge reopens to traffic, it will further smooth regional traffic circulation, provide solid support for residents' daily travel and cross-regional cargo transport, and help improve the transportation network connecting northern Donghai County with Linshu County in Shandong Province. A relevant official from the Donghai County transportation department said that they will continue to strengthen daily maintenance and management of the bridge, implement refined management and protection measures, carry out regular safety inspections and maintenance, safeguard safe, orderly, and smooth road traffic, and continuously enhance public happiness in travel.
