On January 16, the 2026 Building Decoration Materials Trend Release Conference and the 2025 Jingwen · Chuangxiang Cup Building Decoration Product Design Competition Awards Ceremony were held in Beijing. The event was hosted by the China Building Decoration Association and jointly organized by the Materials Application Branch of the China Building Decoration Association and Guangdong Jingwen Media Co., Ltd. Under the theme "Smart Manufacturing for the Future, Green Building for Coexistence," more than 300 representatives from academia, the design community, enterprises, and industry associations attended the conference.

  Wang Zhongqi, President of the China Building Decoration Association, stated that China's building decoration industry is currently in a critical period of transition from scale-and-speed-driven growth to quality-and-efficiency-driven development, with technological innovation, green and low-carbon practices, and design-driven approaches having become the core engines of industry development. He called on the entire industry to firmly seize the development opportunities of the new era, take improving building quality and people's living experience as the fundamental goal, strengthen collaborative innovation among industry, academia, research, and application, accelerate the research, development, and application of green building materials, promote the deep integration of design creativity and material craftsmanship, and jointly build a healthy, smart, and sustainable new ecosystem for industry development.

  Yu Mingyang, Dean of the China Enterprise Development Research Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Antai College of Economics and Management, conducted an in-depth analysis from multiple dimensions and pointed out that the key to corporate profitability in the future lies in value creation rather than cost competition. He emphasized that for the building decoration industry, the key to profitability lies in accurately grasping and innovatively satisfying deep-seated user values such as "health, environmental protection, intelligence, and aesthetics." Enterprises need to build a user-centered value system and open up new profit growth space through material innovation, design value-added, and service extension, thereby achieving a win-win outcome for both economic and social benefits.

  At the conference, the report "Standing in the World: 2026 Building Decoration Materials Trend Report" was officially released. Starting from a global perspective and combining the core of Chinese culture with the evolution of contemporary lifestyles, the report predicted the trends in color, texture, form, and technological application of building decoration materials for the coming year. The report analyzed the current status and characteristics of the development of China's building decoration industry from eight dimensions, including "intelligent construction and digital integration," "stock renewal and urban regeneration," "prefabricated and modular interior decoration," and "industrial integration and ecological reconstruction," and interpreted and predicted the 2026 China building decoration trends. The report pointed out that materials will place greater emphasis on harmonious dialogue with the environment, reflect artistic expression empowered by technology, focus on the psychological health of space users, and embody the sustainable concept of recyclability and renewability throughout.

  Zhao Dian, Chief Architect of China Architecture Design & Research Group Co., Ltd. and Dean of the Prefabricated Building Institute, stated that "good houses" must be systematically built based on productized integrated solutions across the entire industry chain. He pointed out that to give full play to the role of the "good houses" construction system, it is necessary to ask the needs of the people and conduct household surveys well; to master methods for implementing standards and truly coordinate good integration, good standards, good design, good construction, good building materials, and good operation and maintenance for systematic construction; and to open up the entire chain so that every practitioner becomes a participant, jointly leveraging their respective strengths and working together to build good houses.

  Shan Bo, Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Building Decoration Association, delivered a comprehensive summary of the 2025 Jingwen · Chuangxiang Cup Building Decoration Product Design Competition. At the conference, the "2026 Jingwen · Chuangxiang Cup Building Decoration Product Design Competition" was officially launched, and the list of judging experts for the new competition was announced.

  The conference also featured four parallel forums focusing on industry hotspots and challenges for in-depth discussion.
