On December 30, the Jingwu Yellow River Bridge, in whose construction CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. participated, officially opened to traffic.

Located between Zhengzhou City and Xinxiang City in Henan Province, the Jingwu Yellow River Bridge is a key node of the Jingwu Expressway on the national expressway network. With a total length of 15.223 kilometers, it is the longest highway bridge over the Yellow River.

The main bridge section is a double-tower, double-cable-plane composite girder cable-stayed bridge, with a main bridge length of 1,010 meters and a main span of 520 meters. The two main towers are 182 meters high, and their exterior design draws on the shape of a Shang Dynasty bronze wine vessel, conveying the meaning of "paying respect to the Yellow River and dedicating to the Central Plains."

The main towers of the bridge are the first in China to adopt a steel-concrete composite structure without longitudinal reinforcement. The upstream and downstream tower columns are each divided into 36 segments and installed segment by segment through prefabricated assembly techniques. While improving efficiency, this also enables off-site manufacturing and construction of the bridge, reduces the self-weight of the bridge structure and the scale of the substructure, narrows the excavation range of the Yellow River riverbed, significantly reduces the impact of bridge construction on the ecological environment, and protects the Yellow River wetlands to the greatest extent possible.

During pile foundation construction for the bridge, the CCCC Second Harbor Engineering construction team innovatively applied the "distributed post-grouting pile foundation technology." After conventional pile foundation construction was completed, intelligent grouting equipment was used to inject concrete slurry in layers into the bottom and sides of the piles, filling the gaps between the piles and the surrounding soil and greatly enhancing the friction between the piles and the soil. This shortened the total pile length across the project by more than 20,000 meters and reduced carbon emissions by 2.8 tons.

As the bridge with the largest steel consumption in inland China, the Jingwu Yellow River Bridge used 220,000 tons of steel in total. Anchored to the core goals of industrialized construction and intelligent construction, the construction team applied prefabricated construction techniques on a large scale, innovatively used digital methods such as BIM collaborative management and intelligent monitoring and early warning, as well as a large number of advanced technologies such as intelligent welding robots. They overcame multiple technical challenges, including the transportation and hoisting of large-tonnage components and foundation construction under complex geological conditions, and made extensive active exploration and innovative practice in the industrialization and intelligentization of bridge construction.
