On December 21, the pile foundation works for the left main pier on the north bank of the Huaihe Grand Bridge in Section 2 of the G3 Beijing-Taipei Expressway were successfully completed. With the final cubic meter of concrete poured for Pile No. 17-1, all 13 main pier piles in this area were finished, 10 days ahead of the original schedule. The achievement of this key milestone reflects the day-and-night efforts of all construction personnel and has laid a solid foundation for accelerating the subsequent construction of the project.

Main Pier No. 17 on the left side of the Huaihe Grand Bridge is one of the core control nodes of the G3 Beijing-Taipei Expressway and the Xubei Reconstruction and Expansion Project, and its construction difficulty is regarded as the greatest in the project. The main pier requires 13 piles, each 2 meters in diameter and 28 meters long, and each must penetrate more than 10 meters into the moderately weathered granite layer. It is reported that this rock layer is extremely hard, with a saturated compressive strength of 118.3 MPa; combined with complex geological and hydrological conditions, this has posed many obstacles to drilling operations. Facing multiple challenges, the construction team successfully solved the construction difficulties through scientific coordination and precise measures.

It is understood that the G3 Beijing-Taipei Expressway reconstruction and expansion project is an important part of the national expressway network and a key construction project of Anhui Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Once completed, the project will further improve the regional transportation network in Bengbu, enhance the capacity of interprovincial corridors, and inject momentum into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
