A few days ago, at the opening ceremony of the Toutun River Connecting Line Grand Bridge, a key control project of the Urumqi Ring Expressway West Line, private cars drawn by the news streamed across the Liuhuanggou Toll Station at one end of the bridge, marking the official start of the "steel dragon" spanning the Toutun River's mission of carrying traffic.

The Toutun River Connecting Line Grand Bridge has a total length of 2,267 meters and a height of 126 meters, making it the tallest bridge in Urumqi and the second tallest in Xinjiang. It is known for its complex and diverse bridge structure types, and its construction scale ranks among the top in the region. The west approach bridge adopts a "cylindrical pier/thin-walled hollow pier + precast box girder" structure, the main bridge adopts a "double-leg thin-walled hollow pier + continuous rigid-frame box girder" structure, and the east approach bridge adopts a "thin-walled hollow pier + steel-concrete composite girder" structure. Among them, the 150-meter continuous rigid-frame box girder span of the main bridge ranks first among bridges of its kind in Xinjiang, and Pier No. 3 of the main bridge is the most technically complex pier structure on the entire line, with underground pile foundations 100 meters deep and a bridge height of 123.8 meters, equivalent to a 45-story building.

The construction team overcame multiple technical challenges, including ultra-long variable cross-section pile foundations and ultra-high thin-walled hollow piers, and installed an intelligent monitoring system to perceive the bridge's health status in real time, building a solid quality defense line for safe construction and traffic. After the bridge opens, travel time from Bainiaohu to the Chengbei area and between Urumqi and Changji will be shortened from the original 1 hour to less than 30 minutes. Changji residents can access the bridge via Wansheng Avenue and reach Urumqi Station directly by expressway, improving travel efficiency by more than 50%, effectively alleviating traffic pressure on existing roads, making "Urumqi-Changji integration" tangible and strongly promoting coordinated regional industrial development.
