Recently, the 200 MW livestock-photovoltaic complementary PV power generation project in Bangcun Village, Duilongdeqing District, Lhasa, Tibet, in which Sinohydro Bureau 9 participated as a construction party, was successfully connected to the grid. It will inject strong momentum into Lhasa's clean energy supply and strike a new chord of green development.

The project is located in Bangcun Village, Deqing Town, Duilongdeqing District, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, at an altitude of 4,020 m to 4,630 m. The installed capacity is 200 MW, equipped with a 40 MW/160 MWh energy storage system. About 325,000 PV modules are laid out, forming 64 sub-arrays and covering about 4,356 mu. It is equipped with 704 units of 300 kW inverters and 64 units of 3,150 kVA box-type transformers. The project is divided into three sections in total. Sinohydro Bureau 9 is responsible for foundation pouring, support and module installation, as well as the construction and commissioning of box-type transformers and inverters in the PV field area of Section III.

During project construction, in the face of multiple challenges such as high altitude, harsh environment, fragile ecology and a tight schedule, the project team innovatively adopted a dual-driven model of "customized technology + refined management." In response to quality problems prone to occur in the PV field area, effective plans were formulated to ensure stable operation of equipment in extreme environments; a "Youth Commando Team" and a "Technical Breakthrough Team" were set up, with responsibility assigned by area, to provide technical guidance and quality control for key processes; a first-piece engineering sample system was established to ensure that each subsequent construction step meets specification standards; and a dual safeguard mechanism of "pre-shift safety briefing + full-process on-site supervision" was strictly implemented. More than 20 specialized trainings on work at height, electrical safety and other topics were organized, covering more than 1,500 person-times of construction workers, achieving full safety education coverage. While ensuring project progress, the team actively promoted the development of local industrial chains, driving income growth in local equipment leasing, building materials transportation and other industries; through skills training, Tibetan people were recruited to join the project construction team, truly fulfilling the commitment that "wherever the project is built, jobs are delivered there," achieving simultaneous improvement of economic and social benefits.

The project team consistently integrated the concept of "ecology first" throughout the entire project process, insisting that minimizing disturbance is the greatest protection. Before construction, each construction area was surveyed in detail, and vegetation restoration was carried out by means of "block-by-block marking, layered excavation and backfilling in the original form"; after construction, native grass seeds such as Elymus dahuricus and alfalfa were sown in a timely manner to achieve full coverage and rapid restoration of ecological vegetation. At the same time, the "livestock-photovoltaic complementary" model was implemented, making PV panels a "sunshade umbrella" for pastures. In winter, they can shield cattle and sheep from wind and snow, and herders can graze freely under the PV panels, forming an ecological cycle pattern of "power generation above the panels, grazing below the panels, and excellence in both grass and livestock."

After the project is put into operation, the average annual power generation is expected to be about 352 million kWh, equivalent to saving 106,500 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 291,900 tons each year. It will provide cleaner and more reliable power supply for the Lhasa area and meet Lhasa's electricity demand economically and efficiently.
