Recently, the rotor of the first unit at the Stung Tatay Hydropower Station in Cambodia was successfully hoisted into place. The smooth completion of this key milestone marks that the electromechanical installation project of the station has officially entered the critical stage of core equipment installation, laying a solid foundation for the first unit to be commissioned and generate power on schedule.
As the core key component for realizing energy conversion in a hydropower station, the generator rotor of a hydropower station has extremely high manufacturing and installation precision requirements. The rotor of the Stung Tatay Hydropower Station has a diameter of 5.438 meters, a height of 8.46 meters, and a total weight of approximately 187 tons. It is the core component of the entire hydro-generator unit with the greatest weight, the most complex technology, and the highest manufacturing and installation precision requirements. To ensure that this hoisting operation was flawless, the project team, with a high sense of responsibility and a scientific and rigorous attitude, made meticulous arrangements for all preparatory work: the hoisting plan was repeatedly demonstrated and refined by experts, and multiple rounds of meticulous calculations and simulation drills were carried out for key links such as the strength of the lifting rigging, the installation position, the hoisting path, and the hoisting clearance, so as to ensure the absolute precision of every step of the operation; safety inspectors were on duty throughout the process, emergency response plans were fully in place, and risks were firmly controlled in their infancy.
The Stung Tatay Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 150 MW and is equipped with 2 hydro-generator units, with an average annual power generation of 530 million kWh. After the station is completed, its main task will be power generation, which will effectively alleviate the power shortage in Cambodia and promote the development of local green energy and the improvement of people's livelihoods.
