Recently, the commissioning and operational results of the Phase I expansion project of the Hainan Baishamen Wastewater Treatment Plant have been encouraging. All indicators of the effluent water quality from the plant are significantly better than the specified Grade A standard (the strictest national standard), earning high recognition from the owner.

Adhering to a rigorous and scientific approach, the construction team focused on "the entire system, the entire process, and full load" and carried out a five-week joint commissioning and testing of equipment, conducting comprehensive coordinated tests on core equipment such as influent lifting pumps, bar screens, and aeration systems, while closely monitoring the dynamic changes of key indicators such as influent COD and ammonia nitrogen. During the continuous 72-hour full-load trial operation, the plant's automated control system precisely regulated the operating parameters of each unit, achieving an efficient and stable operating state, and the sludge settling ratio of the activated sludge in the biological tanks remained stable within the ideal range of 20%-30%. The filtered water from the advanced treatment system was clear and transparent with excellent quality, and all indicators were significantly better than the national Grade A standard; it can be directly discharged into key national monitoring watersheds and can also be used as reuse water for enclosed/semi-enclosed water bodies, with ecological benefits exceeding expectations.

The Baishamen Phase I Wastewater Treatment Plant is the largest wastewater treatment plant in Haikou, serving an urban area of 96 square kilometers and a population of nearly 1 million. After expansion, its daily treatment capacity reaches 80,000 tons, adopting the advanced process of "pretreatment + AAO biological tanks + advanced treatment," and it undertakes the collection and treatment of domestic sewage and industrial wastewater in Haikou, substantially reducing the total regional discharge of water pollutants. This expansion will greatly increase the total treatment scale and efficiency, and is of great significance for optimizing the ecology, improving the living environment, and further leveraging the locational advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
