Recently, the signing ceremony for the design, supervision, and EPC contractors for the pre-construction phase of the Helong Pumped Storage Power Station, jointly undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd., was held in Beijing, marking the project's entry into the stage of full-scale construction.

The Helong Pumped Storage Power Station has an installed capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts and a total investment of approximately 11.61 billion yuan, making it the largest pumped storage power station by installed capacity in Jilin Province to date. The station can generate at full capacity for 10 consecutive hours and is equipped with six pump-turbine generator-motor units, each with a unit capacity of 300,000 kilowatts. It is a Class I large (1) type project with a rated head of 530 meters, consisting of key components such as the upper reservoir, lower reservoir, and water conveyance system. As the first pumped storage power station in Northeast China with weekly regulation capability, the project offers the advantage of high flexibility and adaptability to fluctuations in power demand; it can flexibly adjust power generation according to changes in electricity demand at different times within a week, thereby optimizing power supply. It also has the advantage of reducing the power grid's reliance on thermal power for peak shaving and enhancing grid reliability; through its weekly regulation capability, it can replace part of thermal power peak shaving, lowering the overall operating cost of the system.

The station is a key implementation project for the 14th Five-Year Plan period as designated in the National Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035). Its construction will directly boost employment and the development of related industries, continuously increase local fiscal revenue, and support the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China. In addition, it will effectively improve the safe and stable operation of the Jilin Province power grid, optimize the energy structure, and promote energy conservation and emission reduction. Preliminary estimates indicate that it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4.25 million tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by 14,000 tons per year, providing technical experience and a demonstration model for subsequent clean energy projects and supporting the achievement of the national "dual carbon" goals.

At present, all work is proceeding in an orderly manner.
