Recently, the Malawi Lilongwe Bunda Water Supply Network Optimization Project of PowerChina Municipal Construction Company received the project handover certificate issued by the owner, and the project has officially entered a one-year defect liability period.

The Malawi Lilongwe Bunda Water Supply Network Optimization Project officially commenced on February 19, 2024. The main construction content includes: building a new pump house and a steel-structured water storage tank, 27 water intake points, laying and installing 13 km of DI250 mm pipelines, 14 km of HDPE63 mm pipelines, and 2 km of PVC110-200 mm pipelines, along with 36 supporting valve chambers and inspection wells, while also completing the replacement and repair of valves at the old water treatment plant.

During the construction process, in the face of practical difficulties such as remote distribution of water intake points, scattered work fronts, and the complex construction environment of the water treatment plant, the project team organized scientifically and constructed meticulously, strictly implemented the construction organization design requirements, optimized resource allocation, reasonably arranged work sequences, and implemented acceptance and handover by sub-item and section, successively completing the completion certificates for the main contract and three addendum contracts, ensuring overall high-quality performance of the project.

During project implementation, the project team worked together with solid and enterprising efforts, performing outstandingly in safety management, engineering quality, contract performance, environmental protection, and fulfillment of social responsibilities, winning unanimous praise from the owner, the supervisor, and the local community.

This project handover has further established the company's brand image in Malawi and accumulated valuable experience for subsequently deepening the local water market and promoting livelihood engineering construction.
