On October 13, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Zhaolu Large-scale Irrigation District Upgrade and Renovation Project in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, which was surveyed and designed by Beijing Institute and constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd.

The Zhaolu Large-scale Irrigation District in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, is the only large-scale irrigation district in the city. It is a supporting construction project of the Yudong Reservoir, with a designed irrigation area of 529,000 mu. It was completed and put into operation in 2018, benefiting 1,119,700 people in three counties (districts): Zhaoyang, Ludian, and Daguan.

Under the efficient advancement of the Beijing Institute team, the project achieved the "Zhaolu Speed" of taking only 7 months from feasibility study to preliminary design, fully demonstrating Beijing Institute's professional strength in the survey and design of large-scale irrigation district projects. During the process, the project team overcame difficulties such as a tight schedule and heavy tasks, and completed with high efficiency and high quality the survey and design work covering five core sections: irrigation water intake, pump station construction, water conveyance and distribution system, field works, and informatization renovation, laying a solid foundation for the smooth start of the project. The Zhaolu Large-scale Irrigation District Upgrade and Renovation Project undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd. mainly includes five parts: water intake project renovation, new pump station construction, water conveyance and distribution project renovation, digital twin facility engineering, and field engineering informatization renovation.

After the project is completed, it will effectively improve the utilization rate of main canals, form a "Water Moistening Zhaolu" interconnected water supply pattern, further enhance the city's water supply guarantee capacity and river flood discharge function, effectively improve the river water ecological environment, enhance the city's livability, and better serve the development of regional characteristic industries, ensure food security, and promote rural revitalization.
