At 17:19 on September 28, 2025, the Qujing Guangchu 400 MW/800 MWh independent shared energy storage power station project, constructed by Jiangxi Electric Power Design Institute (Jiangxi Institute), was successfully connected to the grid.

The project is currently the largest energy storage station built in Yunnan Province. Located in the Hongqiao Industrial Park in Malong District, Qujing City, it has a planned capacity of 400 MW/800 MWh, comprising 80 sets of 5 MW/10 MWh energy storage units. Each unit is equipped with a 10 MWh battery system and two 2,500 kW power conversion systems (PCS). The energy storage system units are stepped up locally to 35 kV and then connected via 20 circuits of 35 kV collector lines to the 35 kV busbar of a newly built 220 kV substation.

Since the commencement of construction, the Jiangxi Institute project execution team has consistently upheld the team culture of "service, openness, and pragmatism," implementing a mechanism of "daily inspection, weekly review, and monthly assessment." Each day the team focuses on key processes such as battery container hoisting and line construction; each week it resolves bottlenecks in material transportation and cross-operation coordination; and each month it uses assessments to correct schedule deviations. This has enabled efficient project execution, earning commendation from the owner for quality service and setting a new record for the construction speed of regional energy storage projects.

Once operational, the project will effectively enhance local energy storage and regulation capacity, provide reliable peak-shaving and frequency-regulation support for the power grid, and promote the large-scale consumption and efficient utilization of new energy. This "green energy bank" can effectively smooth fluctuations in Yunnan's wind and photovoltaic power, alleviate the seasonal imbalance between wet and dry periods in hydropower, optimize power allocation, and safeguard electricity supply for both residents and industry. It injects new momentum into advancing the commercialization and independent development of energy storage technology, and provides support for Yunnan's goal of building itself into a strong province of green energy.
