On September 25, with the successful docking of the last wind turbine blade and hub, all 44 wind turbines of the 650 MW wind power civil works and unit installation Section II undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 11 were fully hoisted, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent achievement of the goal of full grid-connected power generation.

The project is located on the Gobi Desert about 13 kilometers southwest of Burqin County seat in Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang. Section II undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 11 installs 44 7.5 MW wind turbine units capable of withstanding extreme temperature differences from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. After the project is put into operation, the annual on-grid electricity can reach 1,599.93 million kWh, saving about 482,400 tons of standard coal annually and reducing emissions of harmful substances such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot, which is of great significance for optimizing the regional energy structure and promoting clean, low-carbon and efficient energy development.

Since the hoisting of the first wind turbine, in the face of multiple challenges such as difficult transportation, complex site conditions and frequent extreme weather, the project team scientifically optimized the hoisting process and construction organization, rationally coordinated the allocation of machinery and manpower, and strictly controlled every operational process. The project adhered to both technical and safety briefings for each unit, strengthened on-site supervision and risk warning, and implemented full-process on-site supervision and real-time monitoring for key links, effectively ensuring the safety and reliability of high-altitude operations and hoisting of large equipment, and successfully completing the hoisting task of all 44 wind turbines.
