On September 21, 2025, the kick-off meeting for the national standard "In-hole Testing Method for Permeability of Rock and Soil Masses" was successfully held in Chengdu. The standard is led by PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Jun, Secretary-General of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Geotechnical Mechanics, and Zhang Shishu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager (presiding over overall work) of the company, delivered a speech at the kick-off meeting. Together with relevant industry leaders, experts, and colleagues, they discussed ways to advance the standardization of China's geotechnical testing field to new heights.

 At the meeting, Chengdu Engineering Corporation systematically introduced the project background and the content of the outline preparation around the key links of standard preparation. Participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on the core content of standard formulation and put forward professional suggestions on key matters such as the basis for preparation, method verification, and application scenarios. After full discussion, the meeting clarified the principles for standard preparation, the main technical framework, and key technical points, and determined the work outline, thereby defining the direction and boundaries for subsequent standard preparation. The preparation team will further sort out the general technical requirements for permeability testing of rock and soil masses in different fields, ensure the standardization and normalization of the testing methods to be prepared, and enhance the coordination of test results across different industries. At the same time, the drafting of the first version will be launched as soon as possible to ensure that the standard preparation work is carried out efficiently and in an orderly manner.

 The successful holding of this meeting marks the official launch of the formulation of the national standard "In-hole Testing Method for Permeability of Rock and Soil Masses." The formulation of this standard will not only improve the overall level of China's permeability testing technology for rock and soil masses, but will also enhance China's technical discourse power in related fields and help the industry achieve high-quality development. They will play an important role in the subsequent preparation work and work together to promote the early implementation of the standard.
