On September 21, the first wind turbine was successfully hoisted at Huode Village, Xumai Township, Nimu County, at an altitude of 5,250 meters, marking the completion of the first turbine installation for the 100 MW Phase I wind power project of the Tibet Huadian Nimu 1 GW Wind and Solar Power Base, for which Kunming Institute served as the lead EPC general contractor.

The turbine nacelle reaches a height of 118 meters, and the blades are 97.3 meters long. Hoisting of the first unit officially began at 9:30 a.m. on September 12, and the operation endured severe weather including strong winds, rain, snow, and hail. Facing multiple challenges such as extreme cold and oxygen deficiency, large temperature differences between day and night, sudden severe weather, high risks of working at height, and difficult transport of oversized components, the Kunming Institute project team fought for nine days and fulfilled its mission, finally overcoming the technical difficulties of large-scale hoisting in ultra-high-altitude areas.

The completion of this hoisting milestone lays a solid foundation for the project's grid connection and power generation by the end of the year. After the project reaches full capacity, it is expected to deliver approximately 200 million kWh of clean electricity annually on average, meeting the annual electricity demand of about 36,500 households, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 199,400 tons per year, with an ecological benefit equivalent to planting 8.6 million trees.

At present, the foundations of all 18 turbine platforms have been completed, the main transformer of the booster station has been installed, and subsequent equipment is entering the site in batches. Taking the hoisting of the first turbine as a starting point, the Kunming Institute project department will continue to optimize the plateau construction plan, making the "big windmills" on the roof of the world a powerful driving force for the "dual carbon" strategy.
