Recently, the dismantling of the cable crane group at the Baihetan Hydropower Station—the world's largest cable crane group, whose installation, dismantling, and operation were undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co., Ltd.—has been successfully completed. On September 16, Three Gorges Construction Engineering Corporation sent a letter of congratulation, affirming and praising Sinohydro Bureau 4 for its efficient and reliable capabilities.

The dismantling of the cable crane group at Baihetan Hydropower Station is an ultra-high-risk project with complex procedures and extremely high risks, constituting a comprehensive test of construction technology, organizational management, and collaborative operational capabilities. The Baihetan cable crane group comprises a total of 7 cable cranes. Since being put into operation successively in January 2015, they have operated safely for 229,800 machine-hours, made nearly 1 million round-trip lifts, and cumulatively completed the lifting and transportation of more than 30 million tons of materials and equipment. Dismantling began in April 2022, and on September 11, 2025, the last reciprocating rope was successfully recovered, concluding all installation and dismantling tasks.

Throughout the dismantling process, Sinohydro Bureau 4 consistently adhered to the principles of "safety first, prevention foremost, and technology leading," achieving the goals of "zero accidents, zero injuries, and zero pollution." In its congratulatory letter, Three Gorges Construction Engineering Corporation stated that Sinohydro Bureau 4 is highly skilled, tenacious in work style, and courageous in battle, representing the industry's leading level, setting an industry benchmark, and embodying the dedication and professional character of builders in the new era.

The Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Jinsha River at the border between Ningnan County, Sichuan Province, and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. It is a major national project for implementing the "West-to-East Power Transmission" initiative. After the station is fully put into operation, it will generate an average annual power output of approximately 62.4 billion kWh, save about 19.68 million tons of standard coal annually, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 51.6 million tons.
