On September 12, the tunnel of Phase II of the Guangdong Eastern Guangdong Water Resources Optimal Allocation Project, a major livelihood water conservancy project in Guangdong Province, achieved full breakthrough, marking the full breakthrough of all 15 shield tunneling sections of the project.

After the completion of Phase II of the Eastern Guangdong Water Resources Optimal Allocation Project, water from the Hanjiang River can be allocated to Shantou and other areas, with an average annual water intake of 311 million cubic meters, serving a population of more than 8.5 million. It will effectively optimize the water resources allocation pattern in eastern Guangdong and enhance the regional water security guarantee capacity. Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. undertook Construction Section 1 of the project.

During construction, Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. overcame various unfavorable conditions such as large buried depth of the section, numerous faults, developed fissure water, vastly different rock mechanical properties in the upper-soft and lower-hard strata, clustered distribution of small and medium-sized boulders, high strength of a single boulder, and major changes compared with the preliminary design geological survey report. It continuously carried out technological innovation, refined every construction step, and advanced the smooth progress of project construction. In particular, in the face of a world-class underground boulder group, Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. pioneered the in-tunnel dual-mode modification of the shield machine in the world, solving the biggest problem in the project's shield construction and providing a brand-new solution for shield construction under similar complex geological conditions.
