Recently, the Phase I Xinglin Bay Ecological Environment Improvement Project, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 5 Co., Ltd., successfully completed its dredging works, with a total dredged volume exceeding 2.9 million cubic meters.

The dredging works of this project mainly involve removing sediment from a 2.2-square-kilometer water area. Environmentally friendly cutter suction dredgers are used to loosen the sediment at the lakebed, which is then transported through pipelines to a sediment treatment system for dewatering to form mud cakes. Dredging is a key step in the ecological governance of Xinglin Bay; it will remove endogenous pollution, control the re-release of pollutants, prevent algal blooms, and improve the water quality of Xinglin Bay.

Considering that the dredging works involve overwater operations, the operation of large equipment, and a complex underwater environment, the project department has strengthened the implementation of its primary responsibility for work safety and established an integrated informatized supervision system comprising a comprehensive environmental monitoring and analysis platform, a safe operation supervision platform, and an intelligent production process management platform, achieving visualized facilities, technology-driven supervision, and intelligent decision-making. The project strictly follows the principle of "ecological priority and environmentally friendly construction," implements green construction requirements across the three dimensions of ecological protection, pollution prevention and control, and resource conservation, and adopts measures such as installing ecological soft containment curtains and controlling the sailing speed of construction vessels to reduce water disturbance and prevent the spread of suspended sediment.

At present, the Xinglin Bay project is concurrently carrying out the construction of bird habitats, the raising of the sports island, and in-situ ecological restoration.
