This major breakthrough received prominent coverage from CCTV

for China's wind power industry's advance into deep and distant seas

providing key technical support

The 26 MW unit hoisted this time

is currently the world's largest single-unit capacity and longest rotor diameter

offshore wind turbine

The entire machine possesses fully independent intellectual property rights

and further achieves fully domestic design and manufacturing

     The unit consists of more than30,000components, with the hub center height at185 meters, equivalent to the height of a residential building of over 50 stories; its rotor swept area reaches77,000 square meters, making it not onlycurrently the world's largest single-unit capacityandlongest rotor diameteroffshore wind turbine, but also achieving fully domestic design and manufacturing.

This installation task faced adual challengeof "high-altitude precision operation" and "complex site constraints":

  • on the one hand, millimeter-level alignment of more than 200 connecting bolts had to be completed at a height of nearly 200 meters, imposing extremely high precision requirements;

  • on the other hand, the tidal flat foundation in the construction area had insufficient bearing capacity and the site space was narrow, further increasing the difficulty of the operation.

     Facing these construction challenges, the project team innovatively adopted pile foundation reinforcement technology to enhancefoundation stability,and deployed the world's largest 4,000-tonne crawler crane — the XCMG XGC88000 — to undertake the hoisting task. Through a systematic solution of "ground pre-leveling + high-altitude precision coordination," the team ultimately achieved the smooth positioning of the thousand-tonne nacelle.

     Hailed by CCTV asthe "national weight" super equipment, the XCMGXGC88000, has wonthe Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. Its maximum rated lifting moment reaches 88,000 tonne-meters, with a maximum boom combination of 216 meters and a maximum lifting capacity of 3,600 tonnes, setting five records: "largest lifting capacity in the world, most comprehensive working condition coverage, stronger safety and reliability, optimal transport efficiency, and highest economic applicability." In addition, the equipment features 3 internationally pioneering technologies, 6 internationally leading technologies, and more than 80 national patents.

     The crane is an indispensable "bridge" in industrial production. Since2013, when it was put into service, the XCMGXGC88000has participated in the construction of more than20major projects worldwide, with its footprint spanning the length and breadth of the country and extending to countries along the "Belt and Road" such as Saudi Arabia and Oman, with a cumulative hoisting total exceeding200,000tonnes. Behind these hoisting legends lies a technological "revolution" by the XCMG R&D team — rapidly responding to the market, starting from scratch, overcoming difficulties, innovating boldly, and pursuing precision manufacturing.
