Recently, with the precise alignment and installation of the last heliostat, the core equipment heliostat array of the Jixi Base Lugou DC 1.4-million-kilowatt outward transmission project 1 (100 MW solar thermal) of PowerChina New Energy Company has achieved full-capacity installation completion, laying a solid foundation for subsequent system commissioning and grid-connected power generation.

The total installed capacity of this solar thermal project is 1,400 MW. After commissioning, it is expected to generate 170 million kWh of electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 140,000 tons per year. The heliostats installed this time each have an area of 30 square meters, and the array composed of 19,720 heliostats covers more than 590,000 square meters, spreading across the land of Jixi as a highly technological "sun-tracking matrix."

During the installation period, the construction team faced the scorching heat of summer and the risks of working at height. Hundreds of builders concentrated their efforts on overcoming difficulties, precisely completing the calibration and installation of each piece of equipment and forging project milestones with their sweat. After the project is completed, it will adopt a continuous operation mode of "concentrating light - storing heat - generating power" to achieve stable 24-hour power supply, effectively making up for the intermittency shortcomings of photovoltaic power generation, providing a practical sample for the construction of a new-type power system, and helping to achieve the "dual carbon" goals.
