Recently, the consolidation grouting works for the foundation of the left-bank gravity dam of the Amaria Hydropower Station, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co., Ltd., have maintained a rapid pace of progress. Amid the 40°C heat of Guinea's dry season, the project team set a construction record of 260 meters of grouting in a single day and completed 15,037 meters of consolidation grouting, injecting strong momentum into this important energy project in West Africa.

The Amaria Hydropower Station is a landmark project embodying the deep integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Africa's energy transition. Its construction and operation are of major strategic significance to optimizing the energy mix of Guinea and the wider West African region. With a total installed capacity of 300 MW, the station will be able to meet about 30% of Guinea's national electricity demand once completed, delivering stable and clean power to the capital Conakry and the mining areas.

Cultural integration brings hearts closer, and China and Africa are jointly writing a new chapter. The project team has adhered to a "localization + specialization" management model. Through measures such as skills training and performance incentives, it has cultivated a construction workforce of 100 Chinese and Guinean employees. The builders have stayed at their posts, contributing to the project with their hard work and sweat. A Guinean employee said: "I admire the professionalism of the Chinese builders, and I am immensely proud to be able to take part in the construction of a key project in Guinea."

Battling high temperatures to seize the golden season, the team tackled challenges together to open up work fronts. The project team made full use of Guinea's dry-season construction window to carry out multi-front operations at the left-bank gravity dam foundation. Three work fronts—the powerhouse dam section, the spillway dam section, and the guide wall—advanced simultaneously. At peak, six sets of drilling equipment and eight sets of grouting equipment were deployed, with 24-hour shift rotations ensuring efficient operation of personnel and machinery. In response to the high temperatures, the project department implemented a staggered work schedule of "working at both ends of the day and resting at midday," and provided heatstroke prevention and cooling supplies to safeguard the physical and mental health of the construction workers.

Facing a complex environment of overlapping operations, the project team implemented a vertical-operation protection system at the powerhouse dam section and the bottom-outlet dam section, and established safe parallel-construction access channels within the roller-compacted concrete placement area at the spillway dam section, achieving seamless coordination between concrete pouring and consolidation grouting. Automated grouting recorders were used to monitor the entire process in real time, and a three-tier quality control system of "team initial inspection—technical re-inspection—quality final inspection" was established, ensuring a 100% excellence rate for individual unit works.

Under the blazing sun of the African continent, the builders of Sinohydro Bureau 3 are writing a new chapter in Belt and Road construction with iron determination. As of now, 85.9% of the total contracted consolidation grouting volume has been completed, and in October the corridor curtain grouting construction task will be carried out in full. Upholding the corporate spirit of "constant self-improvement and the courage to surpass," the project team will set a new benchmark for "Built by China" on West African soil and add a vivid footnote to the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
