On August 15, a delegation of permanent secretaries and senior representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs of nine Caribbean countries visited Shandong Heavy Industry Group for an inspection tour. Ambassador Tian Qi of the Latin America and Caribbean Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sun Yebao, Deputy Director and First-Level Inspector of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, accompanied the delegation. Zhang Gengsheng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, attended the event.

The delegation toured the Shandong Heavy Industry Group Future Technology Exhibition Hall and expressed appreciation for the group's high-quality development in recent years, especially its achievements in overseas business. They expressed the hope to strengthen engagement and exchanges and enhance practical cooperation between the two sides in the equipment manufacturing sector.

Shandong Heavy Industry has been actively optimizing its overseas market layout. In 2024, the group's export revenue in Caribbean markets exceeded RMB 500 million, making the region an important growth market in the Americas. Taking this inspection tour as an opportunity, Shandong Heavy Industry will fully leverage its technological leadership and industrial chain resource advantages in the global equipment manufacturing sector, and, relying on the synergy of its brand matrix, strengthen cooperation with Caribbean countries in areas such as new energy commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, smart logistics, and marine transportation equipment, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and enhance friendship among peoples.

About the Caribbean

The Caribbean countries are located in the central part of the Americas. The Association of Caribbean States was established in 1994 and includes countries and dependent islands around the Caribbean Sea, with a total of 37 members, a total area of more than 5 million square kilometers (including maritime areas), and a population of about 44 million. The countries visiting this time include nine Caribbean countries with diplomatic relations with China: Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
