On August 13, the Tengjiapo Tunnel on the West Main Canal of the first phase of the Tingzikou Irrigation District Project in Sichuan Province, a key water conservancy project under the national 14th Five-Year Plan, achieved full breakthrough after 304 days of intensive efforts.

The Tengjiapo Tunnel on the West Main Canal has a total length of 795 meters and adopts a free-flow gate-shaped structure with a design flow rate of 10.30 cubic meters per second. It is a key hub linking the water network of northeastern Sichuan. The tunnel passes through complex geological zones, with Class V surrounding rock accounting for 62%, fractured rock masses, and poor crown stability.

The project team of Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd. innovatively applied an intelligent system combining a cantilever roadheader with 3D laser scanning to correct the excavation trajectory in real time, keeping the error of a single excavation cycle within 2 centimeters. At the same time, following the principles of "short advance, strong support, and frequent monitoring," and combining advanced grouting reinforcement with closely spaced steel arch support, the team controlled the deformation rate of the surrounding rock at the millimeter level, achieving zero safety accidents throughout the process and successfully overcoming major technical challenges such as fault seepage and rock mass deformation.

After the tunnel breakthrough, the progress of the main works of the West Main Canal will exceed 80%. Currently, Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd. is efficiently advancing the project to ensure water delivery on schedule. Once the first phase of the Tingzikou Irrigation District Project is completed, it will be able to allocate more than 400 million cubic meters of living water from the Jialing River annually, providing a stable irrigation water source for 1.35 million mu of farmland, completely resolving the dilemma of 2.2 million people "depending on the heavens for food," and becoming the "source of living water" for rural revitalization and a "green artery" for building an important ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
