On July 19, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Yarlung Zangbo River downstream hydropower project was held in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region.

The Yarlung Zangbo River downstream hydropower project is the largest infrastructure project ever invested in by China, with a total investment of up to 1.2 trillion yuan. The project is located in Mainling County, Nyingchi City, Tibet, with a total installed capacity of 70 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of 300 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity demand of 300 million people. It was approved by the Chinese government in December 2024, marking the project's official entry into the construction phase.

To support the infrastructure construction in the early stage of the project, Hyundai excavators entered the project site as early as 2023 to begin building internal roads. As one of the first batches of equipment to enter the hydropower station construction, Hyundai excavators won the recognition of the project contractor with their stable construction output. Subsequently, several more Hyundai medium and large excavators entered the site one after another; to date, a total of 8 Hyundai excavators are participating in construction at the hydropower station.

Due to the tight schedule and heavy tasks, in order to ensure continuous and stable operation of the equipment, Hyundai manufacturers and the Tibet dealer - Jingtian Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. - arranged for 2 service engineers to stand by on site 24 hours a day to handle problems arising during equipment operation at any time and ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

Among the Hyundai excavators at the construction site, the Hyundai 24-ton class excavator, as an expert in medium and large earthwork operations, has become the main model participating in the construction of the Yarlung Zangbo hydropower station, further demonstrating its hardcore strength.
