Recently, Cummins successfully held a High-Horsepower Customer Open Day at Chongqing Cummins. Representatives from several customers, including Zhunneng Group, Beidian Shengli Energy, Yanbao Energy, and mining truck manufacturers, visited the Chongqing Cummins intelligent manufacturing base and R&D center. The visit deepened customers' understanding of Cummins' high-horsepower technology, products, and services, and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Deepening Localization: Innovation Drives the Transformation of Mining Power

Looking back on Cummins' 50 years of development in China, the localization of Cummins mining engine complete units and components has achieved remarkable results. Since establishing business ties with China in the 1970s, Cummins has continuously deepened its localization strategy, progressing from licensed production to local manufacturing and gradually building a comprehensive product R&D, production, and aftermarket service system.

Today, Cummins provides local mining market users with a diverse engine product matrix, with power ranging from 506 to 4,400 horsepower, covering applications such as 100-ton to 400-ton dump trucks, excavators, loaders, and mining. In addition to traditional diesel power, pre-installed and retrofit solutions can meet mining users' demand for hybrid powertrain solutions, helping to reduce carbon footprints.

During the event, local partners also visited the Cummins Power Systems Chongqing Technical Center. Put into operation in 2020, the center is an important manifestation of Cummins' global high-horsepower engineering capability in China, covering three high-horsepower/generator set test cells, four types of applied mechanics laboratories, and a new energy and microgrid innovation center. It possesses full-scenario local R&D and validation capabilities ranging from 4 liters to 78 liters, from diesel to zero carbon, and from single generator sets to microgrids.

In recent years, Cummins has continuously joined forces with local partners to promote technological innovation and energy conservation and emission reduction, enhancing local R&D and production capabilities. It is committed to creating tailored full-lifecycle cost-reduction solutions for customers. Through services such as remanufactured engines, rental engines, extended warranty, and digital solutions, it effectively optimizes and saves engine full-lifecycle costs, reduces failure rates, and improves equipment availability. Today, Cummins is accelerating its transition from traditional internal combustion engine technology to new energy power solutions, helping users achieve efficient operations and green development.

Professional Service for Worry-Free Operations

To ensure customer equipment stays online, Cummins' on-site service is infinitely close to customers. More than one hundred experienced technicians are distributed across the country, working efficiently with regional service personnel to provide professional service. At the same time, Cummins has strong on-site repair capabilities and has set up multiple forward warehouses in the mining market, with parts stocked by tier, ensuring an adequate supply of commonly used parts. This provides customers with reliable assurance, reduces failure risks, and ensures efficient equipment operation.

Rooted in China, Win-Win Cooperation

Through its deep localization strategy, Cummins has built a supply chain system that is stable, reliable, efficient, and agile. Relying on local complete-unit production capacity, it significantly shortens delivery cycles and ensures products respond quickly to market demand; a flexible production mechanism further strengthens its ability to handle urgent orders.

Recently, Cummins paid a special visit to the relevant departments of the National Energy Group to exchange in-depth views on the latest deployment and implementation progress of its localization strategy in China, further deepening strategic synergy between the two sides. Relying on a highly integrated and efficiently operating local ecosystem network, Cummins has not only significantly improved response speed and supply chain resilience, but also continued to create value for customers, serving as solid support for customers to gain competitive advantages in the Chinese and global markets.
